Jason Aldean was performing on stage in Las Vegas when a gunman open fired on a crowd of 20,000 concert-goers from the 36th floor of a nearby hotel.  59 people died, over 500 people were hospitalized and the gunman committed suicide.  To this day no one know what the gunman's motive was.

Coincidentally, rock and roll icon, Tom Petty, died of a heart attack the day after the Las Vegas Massacre.  He was only 66 years old.

Less than one week after the deadliest mass-shooting in US history, Jason Aldean opened "Saturday Night Live!" with these words.  He and his band then sang Tom Petty's "Won't Back Down", a song that became famous after 9/11 and the destruction of the World Trade Center by terrorists in New York City.

"Because when America is at its best, our bond and our spirit, it's unbreakable." - Jason Aldean
