Preparation for Wednesday, April 18

1) Make sure you have TWO blog entries to turn in.  If you need another suggestion, do the writing exercise on page 63 (email to an exchange student, 200 words)

2) finish the worksheet you got in class on Monday, April 9 (prejudice and stereotype vocab)

3) Finish reading your text about Japan or Dubai.  Be able to present the information in the lesson on Wednesday.

The Supply Fairy has given us another lesson!

First period:  Each student will get a representative Matura task (similar to the real Matura).  You will work up talking points and structure your monologue.  If you have a dialogue, look at those instructions as well.

Second period:  Monologue Roulette! We should be able to get through 5-7 with feedback.

N.B.  Everyone is getting different tasks.  It would be a good idea to COPY the tasks for the class, so everyone has some good examples to practice

You got a handout in class about stereotypes and prejudice.

1) Do this worksheet (vocabulary)
2) Be able to explain the difference between stereotype and prejudice IN YOUR OWN WORDS WITH EXAMPLES
3) What stereotypes do you know about Americans?  Austrians?  We will talk about how stereotypes can be supported or destroyed.

5/6C - preparation for Monday, April 16

1) Practice indirect speech (Essential Grammar in Use, Unit 51).
2) How would you define the term "communication"?
3) Do some research on the history of communication.  How did people communicate before smartphones and the internet?
4) In what ways did smartphones and the internet revolutionize communication?
5) What are some examples of mass communication?
6) What are some examples of print media?
7) What are some examples of broadcast media?
8) What are some examples of digital media?
9) What are some examples of personal communication?
10) How will people communicate in the future?  Think about ways people communicate in science fiction movies.
