3C - Homework for Thursday, January 28

Task 1)  Read, read, read so you don't grow up to be ignernt!  Everything you read, be able to give a summary of it (Who? What? Why? When? How?)  Especially important:  Read the article on page 62 in your textbook and do the exercises on p. 63  if you haven't done that already.

Task 2) We are doing a reading test to complement your SA.  It will take 15-20 minutes.

Task 3) Look up the German meanings of the English words on the Linking Words handout.  We will talk about these Verbindungswörter in class after the SA.

2C - Homework for Thursday, January 28

Task 1)  Quiz over linking words (see handout) and parts of a car (p. 14).

Task 2) Read the story on page 11.

Task 3) Write out the answers to exercises 1,2, and 3 on pages 16-17 on a separate piece of paper to hand in.

Task 1 - Read the article on page 50 of Focus on Modern Technology 3.

Task 2 - Do exercise 5 on page 49.  Write the answers to these questions in FULL SENTENCES in your HÜ Heft or on a piece of LINED paper with KORREKTURRAND.

Task 3 - Read the texts on page 51 and 52.  We will work with these texts in class on Thursday, so make sure you know what they say!

Task 1) Be able to describe how a four-stroke engine works

Task 2)  In your NEW textbook (Focus on Modern Technology 2), learn the parts of a car (p. 14) and read about if-sentences on page 16.  Do exercise 2 on page 16-17 (What would you do if...?)  Write out full sentences.

2) speak freely

Task 1) Look at the vocabulary on page 68 of your textbook, Focus on Modern Technology 2. We will have a short (five minute!) vocabulary quiz at the beginning of class.

Task 2)  Read the grammar explanation on p. 66. It is a review of the passive voice.  The passive voice is important because it expands your English skills, both receptive (reading, listening) and productive (speaking and writing). In this way you are one step closer to Matura level of English.
