9C - Hurricane Awareness Task

SITUATION
To improve your English, you are spending a year at a university on the East Coast of the United States.

Individual Long Turn (4-5 minutes)

To get practical use of the language, you are giving a public lecture about hurricane awareness to a mixed audience. There is a hurricane forming 300 miles off the coast, so there is some urgency in your message.

In your presentation you should:

  • Give an overview of what a hurricane is
  • Analyse the dangers associated with hurricanes
  • Recommend steps people can take to remain safe during a hurricane
