The "brats" in the title are "Bratwurst"

In this article, "brat" is pronounced like the German, "Bratwurst"
Police:  Man Assaulted Woman with a Package of Frozen Brats

(another meaning of "brat" - rhymes with "cat" - is "snotty little kid")

ANALYSIS OF THE RESULTS
Here you should try to explain why girls smoke more, boys smoke less, why there's an increase in smoking-related disease among teens, and why so many teens are in favor of a smoking ban.

RECOMMENDATION
Recommend ways in which a school can help cut down the number of teen smokers.

2HAS - Homework for Tuesday, June 7

In groups of three, students will give a presentation about a famous London landmark.  Each group presentation should be about seven minutes minutes long. Each student will talk for about 2 minutes. Ideally you will use the Pecha Kucha method (20 slides x 20 seconds = 400 seconds = 6 minutes and 40 seconds). DO NOT READ YOUR PRESENTATION!!

Do some internet research on your attraction. Do your research IN ENGLISH!
In your presentation you should include:

  • where in London the attraction is located
  • how to get there from the Smart Hyde Park Inn Hostel (Metro, bus, taxi, by foot)
  • when is the attraction open?
  • how much do tickets cost?
  • is there a reduction for students or groups?
  • short history of the attraction
  • what can you do/see at this attraction? (this should be the longest part of your presentation - include lots of details)
  • are there special events? when? do they cost extra?
  • are there any other attractions close by?

SUGGESTIONS FOR SLIDES - NO TEXT!
a map of London showing where the attraction is located
picture of bus stop/Metro station
picture of different kinds of transportation
a picture of the outside of the building

Cinco de Mayo - May 5

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla, when the Mexican army defeated the French army in 1862.  It is celebrated mostly in the United States, where it is used as an excuse to indulge in Mexican food (tacos, enchiladas, tamales, etc).  You can read more about the holiday here:

https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinco_de_Mayo
or here

and if you want to celebrate, you can find recipes here:  http://www.foodnetwork.com/topics/cinco-de-mayo.html

and here's an awesome recipe for puffy tacos; http://www.saveur.com/article/Recipes/Puffy-Tacos
