English Challenge 2018

ENGLISH CHALLENGE 2018
During the Easter Break, you can get a head start on your English Activity Journal! The more you do in English, the more you write in English, the better your English will be.

Students should plan to write AT LEAST 10 journal entries before the end of the Spring Semester.  More than 10 entries will be considered extra credit.  N.B. You should write at least 100 words for an entry.

In the Easter Break, Dr. Sandrock will post videos and other items to spark your interest!

8C
April 17, April 27*, May 8, May 25*, June 5

N.B.  If you don't have your Activity Journal, write on a separate piece of paper and paste it into your journal when you get it back.

To get you started:

* Find examples of English at the supermarket and in advertisements.  Make a collage or draw these examples in your activity journal. Why do you think English is used for these products?

* Watch an episode of your favorite sitcom in English.  Write a short summary of the episode, then write about the English (was it easy to understand? Did you learn any new vocabulary or idioms? Did it help you understand tenses).  Or you can write what you thought was funny!

*1C - you may certainly write about the Wizard of Oz.  DON'T copy a summary from the internet. Describe the characters in your own words. Give your opinion about the film.  What did you like?  What didn't you like?  Be specific! (suggestions include the actors, the characters, the songs, the special effects...)

* Watch a Simon's Cat video or a short Mr. Bean video.  Describe what happens in the video.

* Write about Easter traditions in your family (especially the Easter meal!)
