9C - Thursday, October 5, In-Class

In groups talk about the following:

 - Outline some of the violent acts that have taken place over the past few months (bombings, mass shootings, knife/machete/ax attacks, acid attacks, using vehicles as weapons). Try to be as specific as possible.

- Why to people resort to violence?  (religion, frustration, revenge, mental illness, video games, heavy metal music…) Again, be specific.  Give examples – create scenarios.

- What is the connection between violence and terrorism?  What is the point of terrorism?

- Give reasons why violence seems to be increasing (is the world a violent place? Is it just terrorists? Or has the world always been this violent, we just hear more about it because of social media?)
What would you do if you found yourself in a dangerous situation?  Would you run? Would you help people?  Would you film the event and post it to YouTube.  Give reasons for your actions.

- State whether you will change the way you live your life (will you avoid crowds? Will you stop going to concerts?  Will you stop flying?  Give reasons for your actions.
