We are going to start the "What's Cooking" unit.
First of all, work through the vocabulary on pages 57-58
Then read about National cuisines (page 58) and do the Individual Work exercise on page 59.
After that, look up a recipe in English for one of the dishes on page 59. Maybe you can find a video that shows you how to make it! (put the link in the comments). Be able to tell the class how to make this dish (what ingredients you need, what equipment you need, how much time it takes to make).
LOOKING AHEAD (in case you are stuck at home because of Covid-19)
Do Individual Work on page 60. Include the words beer, pork, chicken, veal.

5C - States for Presentation -Instructions
UNITED STATES FOR PRESENTATION
The United States attracts tourists and immigrants from all over the
world looking for a piece of the American Dream. In your PRESENTATION you
should talk about a US state of your choice – give a little bit of geographical
and historical background but focus on what makes your state interesting! Tourist
attractions, interesting stories, TV shows that are set there, important people
from that state. You MUST INCLUDE AT
LEAST ONE manufacturer that calls the state its home.
Do your research in English! We
will begin presentations Thursday, January 16.
Length: 7 minutes (Pecha Kucha*)
+ questions = maximum 10 minutes. The
main thing is to speak freely (and make it interesting!)
* Pecha Kucha is a presentation technique. You select 20 slides for a Power Point
presentation (no text!). The Power Point
is timed – 20 seconds for each slide.
During that 20 seconds, you speak only about that slide. When the slide switches, you make an
appropriate transition and speak for 20 seconds about the next slide. 20x20 = 400÷60
= 6:40 minutes
