For Friday, November 27, write the reminder letter on page 61 of your textbook. The instructions are in German. Don't try to translate word for word (and for Pete's sake don't use Google Translate!). Instead, use your knowledge of English and the phrases on pages 60-61 to come up with a good, polite English reminder.

Study the vocabulary on page 36. We will have a SHORT vocabulary quiz over these words on Friday, , which you need for Module 3. If you want to make flashcards (Lernkärtchen) you can use www.quizlet.com. You can also write the words in groups (nouns, verbs, adjectives) in your SÜ Heft.
This is going to be a short Module (healthy lifestyle, comparative/superlative adjectives, all of which we did last year).

For Thursday, November 26, write a REVIEW of your favorite movie (or television show, book, video game, etc).
First rule: Do not copy your review from the internet.
Second rule: Do not use Google Translate!
Use the review of Avatar on page 105 of your book as a model. Then follow the guidelines on page 106 to write your review.

What kind of film is it? (science fiction, comedy, documentary, etc)
Who are the actors?
What is it about and where is it set? (Describe the plot and the characters, but NO SPOILERS!)
What is your opinion of this film? (What did you like about it? What didn't you like about it?)

We are currently working though the Chapter on Energy in your textbook (Unit 7). The Schularbeit is on December 2 so we are concentration of Listening, Reading, and Writing Tasks. After the Schularbeit, we will put more effort into speaking about energy. Use these texts for input/talking points!
For Monday, November 16, find a print advertisement (in a magazine or newspaper) and analyze it in terms of AIDA. To get more speaking practice, you will discuss your advertisement in groups with your classmates.
Use language for describing advertisements on pages 20-21 of your textbook (Focus on Modern Technology 4/5, available online at http://www.veritas.at/sbo/ebook/px/24358/ )
Make sure your bring your advertisement to class with you so people know what you're talking about!
SITUATION: You work for the Folkestone Sports Centre, and you are introducing your business to a group of teenagers and their families. Each student prepares his or her part (see below; you received your assignments in class on Monday, November 9). Each student will speak for at least ONE MINUTE.

Task 2. If you have not done it yet, read the email on page 20-21, and do exercises 1 and 2 on page 21.
Task 3. Read the explanation of 'Befehlsform' on page 27. Then fill in the gaps on page 22, exercise 5 with the correct Befehlsform from the word bank. We will check the answers in class.
Task 4. Review the present tense. There were too many mistakes on the homework. There will be a TEST on Wednesday, November 25 over the grammar thus far: articles, tenses, word order, etc.

Task 1:
You are looking for sponsors for prom night (Maturaball): Write a letter you can send out to various businesses in your area asking them to support your event. In your text you should:
Describe what your ball event will be like (place, size, target group, etc.),
Mention how you would like to be supported (financial contribution, hiring of a dance hall, shuttle service, midnight show, prizes for a tombola, giveaways for the ladies, etc.)
Clearly state what you are prepared to offer (advertising space on entrance tickets, posters, advertisement in programme booklet, logo included in video show, etc.)
